One of my favorite bloggers and friend Vera (Lady and the Blog) wrote 10 Things I will not Apologize for post which I thought was brilliant. I think as a single mom, I always feel that I am barely keeping my head above water but have learned that I am not perfect and never will be so here is are 10 Thinks I will not apologize for:
1. My love of TMZ (the show not the site)
Yes, my daughter thinks the show is mean and equates their stories to bullying but I don’t care. I think it appeals to me not so much for the celebrity gossip (which is meh, most times) as I actually enjoy the hilariously and ridiculous banter of the team in their “newsroom” as they pitch the stories of the day. And I just love Harvey Levin, what is he drinking in the cup?
2. Hiring a Babysitter
I don’t go often but I do go out enough to warrant a babysitter to have dinner with friends, go shopping or go to the movies.
3. Drinking Coca-Cola
Yes, Coca-Cola, not diet coke. Mind you I don’t drink it often but I don’t see the point of Diet Coke.
4. Enjoying business trips not for the trip but the chance to relax alone in a hotel room
I can not tell you what it is like to stay up late in a deliciously perfect bed, have someone clean up after you and best of all not have to make any meals for another human being. There may be working going outside the room but once I am in, it is a mini-vacation. I love my daughter but boy it’s nice to just to have some concentrated me time.
5. My love of all things Apple
Nothing more to say that I have been a loyal Apple owner since I got my first Apple computer back in the 80’s. Yeah I am old.
6. Watching John Hughes Movies when I accidently find them while channel surfing
I am so a product of the 80s and no one exemplifies the 80s like John Hughes. My favorites include National Lampoon’s Vacation; Ferris Bueller’s Day Off; The Breakfast Club; Sixteen Candles; Pretty in Pink and Home Alone.
7. Not Reading Books
The last book I read was the last installment of Harry Potter. Mind you it’s not like I don’t read at all but between the internet, reading newspapers and magazines, there is not one moment to read a book. And there is always the New York Times Sunday Book Review section, all I have to do is read the synopsis of the best selling books or the reviews and there you go.
8. Reading Entertainment Weekly Every Week
This by far is the best magazine when it comes all things entertainment. It is informative, well written, on trend and if you are parent offers all the things you need to know to stay on top of what’s hot in pop culture, music and books. I don’t have time to listen to new music so like my cheating on books with the New York Times Book Review, I may not have time to listen to new music but dammit, I will at least know who these people are.
9. Over Spending at Christmas and Birthdays
Enough said, there is no rationalization or justification…
10. Falling Asleep on the couch after dinner
Not sure when I became my dad who fell asleep after dinner but it happened about a year ago. Of course, I could be falling asleep because I have bouts of insomnia, work 10 hours a day and am a single mom with no help.

love the apple and the christmas one for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sandy Cain says
1. Love of anything by Stephen King. 2. Crush on Leonard Nimoy since the ’60’s. 3. Guzzling Cherry Coke. 4. Entering contests 5. Loving anything Indian (I am not from India) 6. Watching the same movies over and over 7. Patting my brother’s belly cause it’s so cute! (He is 54). 8. Thinking of my grown daughter as a new baby 9. Saying Grace before each meal 10. Singing loud even though I have a crummy voice. There! All my (not so guilty) pleasures!! : )
