Zachary Levi is the newest addition to the Marvel franchise joining the cast of the second Thor movie, Thor: The Dark World as Fandral, one of three warriors who accompany Thor on his quests to keep Asgard safe from their enemies.
Admittedly, when I heard that we were interviewing during the press junket for Thor: The Dark World along with Jaimie Alexander (Sif) and Tom Hiddleston (Loki), I was surprised until I learned that he was taking over the role of Fandral from Josh Dallas who left to take on role of the Prince on ABC’s Once Upon A Time.
During the interview, Mr. Levi was delightfully charming and has that devil may care appeal that made NBC’s Chuck so popular.
Here are five fun facts I learned about the happy go lucky Mr. Zachary Levi:
1. Levi was actually originally cast as Fandral but he was committed to Chuck when the first Thor movie was being filmed and Josh Charles was cast. How funny that Charles could not continue to his television commitment and Levi was now able to do the film. Full circle, right.
2. He was a fan of Marvel comics and “was really big into X-Men, the whole kind of mutant category, like X-Men, X-Factor, and X-Force, New Mutants, all that kind of stuff I really, really loved.”
3. Levi went on a strict workout regimen until I got to London. “And then I tried on my wardrobe for the first time and I realized nobody will ever be able to tell whether I’m ripped or not.” I g apart of the Marvel Universe is nothing to be nervous about. I think it’s, you should just celebrate that. Like you get to be apart of a, this incredible comic book, ah, lineage and family and universe that they’ve built, which is incredible, you know.
4. Playing Flynn Rider in Tangled was a dream come true. “I grew up doing nothing but watching Disney cartoons and movies, and particularly musicals, and loving all of them, and dreaming about getting to do just that.”
5. Performing the Tangled theme song at the Oscars was the most nerve-racking experience of his life.
Definitely make Thor: The Dark World a must see film this weekend and check out my Thor: The Dark World review. For more about Thor: The Dark World, visit the official Marvel.com/Thor site and stay social on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest.
