School may be starting up again but as I look back on my daughter’s summer break, returning returning to Oasis Day Camp – Central Park was one of the highlights. Because she had a great time last year, she was thrilled to head back for two weeks.
This summer did see a change in venue to The Mandell School, a state-of-the-art facility that includes a modern black-box theatre, a gymnasium featuring floor to ceiling windows, and a rooftop terrace featuring a koi pond, reflecting pool, and garden to their pristine air- conditioned classroom.
My daughter enjoyed hiking through Central Park to the swimming pool where she swam almost every day which for my daughter is pretty much the only reason she is happy to go to camp. Of course, there are other physical activities. The big to do was the overnight camping trip to Blue Heron Nature Zone in Staten Island. My daughter was so excited about the trip and had an amazing time. She now wants to go camping again because of her experience.
My daughter for the second year in the row, had nothing but “awesome” things to say about the counselors, the other kids and the camp. This quite the endorsement. And honestly given that I did not even meet the counselors this year, I was so happy that she liked her counselors.
It’s a testament to the Oasis staff that they know how to hire counselors that make the kids feel welcome and of course provide a safe and fun environment.

8:30-9:00am – Morning Drop Off
9:00-9:30am – Morning Rally – morning announcements, special shout outs, birthdays, songs, and of course the OASIS camp CHEER!
9:30-11:00am – Activity 1
11:00-12:30pm – Activity 2
12:30-1:00pm – Lunch.
Lunch at Oasis is a great time for children to spend time with their friends and the Oasis staff. Lunch is our version of “free time”.
1:30-3:00pm – Activity 3
3:00-4:30pm – Activity 4
4:30-5:30pm – End of Day/ Goodbye Ritual
Would I recommend Oasis Day Camp? Yes and look forward to heading back next year.
