Reverb 10 is an annual event and online initiative started by Gwen Bell to reflect on your year and manifest what’s next. Reverb 10 provides participants with an opportunity to reflect on what’s happened, and to send out reverberations for the year ahead. With Reverb 10 – and the 31 prompts the 31 authors have created, I am trying to complete each prompt everyday but some of them are tough and take me a long to time to write.
December 15 Prompt: 5 minutes. Imagine you will completely lose your memory of 2010 in five minutes. Set an alarm for five minutes and capture the things you most want to remember about 2010. Author: Patti Digh Creative is a Verb: If You’re Alive, You’re Creative @pattidigh
My daughter’s many accomplishments:
- Being able to do laps in swimming – For someone who doesn’t swim, I love that she has stuck with swimming since she was 6 months old and is now learning to perfect her strokes while other kids she started with have long since dropped out.
- Being able focus in ballet class for 60 minutes – Think about it, could you stand at a bar for 60 minutes practicing ballet positions, truly focused in perfect form for that long. Imagine a 7 year old doing this for 60 minutes – HUGE Accomplishment. And the best is that she has really learned she can do it and oddly enjoys getting better at it.
- First Nutcracker Performance – every girl’s dream is to be in the Nutcracker and now she has done it. A great memory.
- Still believing in Santa even though her friends don’t.
- Being supportive of her uncle coming to live with us and invading our and space – It’s a lot for a 7 year old to grasp and manage through but she has done it.
- Making new friends in her second grade class after being disappointed she wasn’t going to be in the class with her lst grade classmates.
- Making friends with the mean girl in class – Keep your friends close and your enemies closer I say – We can all learn from the Godfather.
- Looking out and being friends with the kids who are bullied. Let’s hope someone gets her back when she is older.
My Accomplishments:
- Going the Thelma and Louise route with a friend and ex-colleague and starting a business. We have officially jumped off the cliff, let’s home we land safely at the bottom of the canyon in 2011.
- My first official interview/panel – being asked to part of Moms Get Real with JuJu Chang was huge for me and an accomplishment I did not sound like an idiot.
- Having my I love “The Talk” segment run on the CBS talk show.
- Getting through another Christmas with my sanity intact.
- Reconnecting with my siblings – for the record nothing “happened” we just are not the most communicative of families but it helps to make the effort right so let me the big sister and initiate and move forward.
- Being more assertive/aggressive (not in a bitchy way) – just being more out there and asking for stuff way – “you don’t get unless you ask” is the expression
5 minutes are up.
