Review: I never saw the first installment in the series so I had no expectations about the sequel. I was truly delighted that it was actually well done and enjoyable to watch. Percy Jackson is basically an action picture for kids but actually has a plot. I liked that main character is very much a teenager even though he is a demi-god. Teenagers have doubts about their place in life, they are insecure and trying to find what they are good but you would think that if one of your parents is a god you would not have those problems, wrong. This movie will be very identifiable for tweens and teens.
This movie introduces a new character, Perry’s half brother, a cyclops. This story line message is don’t judge a book by its cover message which I liked a lot especially for tweens and teens.
For you Castle or Firefly fans, you will get a woowoo when Nathan Fillian pops up as Hermes. Very funny scene, I loved it.
I really like this movie and would recommend it. My daughter loved it. It was a great that she had studied mythology so she knew most of the gods and goddesses which made the movie much more enjoyable.
Percy Jackson is funny, engaging, has fun characters, great special effects and will be enjoyed by tweens, teens and adults. Percy Jackson opens in theaters August 7, 2013
