Since I have a lot new readers and a multitude of long time readers, I wanted to provide some insight into the Editor of nycsinglemom.com since some of you may not have read my about me page or just happened upon this site to enter a giveaway (which is okay.)
I am sure I could come up with more random facts about me but I thought I would just start with 20 (and yes I am that interesting to have more than 20 random facts about me.)
20 random facts about me
- I was a nanny for 2 Italian families while living in Florence. My only job was to speak English.
- I hate doing dishes and sometimes just leave a pile in the sink for me to do in the AM. I have no idea why since I actually have a dishwasher.
- I wear extensions and take credit when people compliment how great my hair looks.
- I taught English to Japanese students before Business school and lived in a town of 800 people. And my Japanese is terrible.
- During a trip to China, the Chinese thought my friends and I were deaf mutes because we never spoke but could read the characters (many of the characters are the same in Japanese and Chinese.)
- I have given a presentation in front of 1, 000 people and did pretty well.
- I used to travel to Omaha and Lincoln Nebraska on business, during those trips my account manager always scheduled time on the agenda for me to go Super Target and shop (this is before Target came to New York.)
- I hate to ski and have never made of f the ski lift. Each time, they have had to stop the lift to help me off. I have given up on the sport at this point and yes, this is with ski lessons.
- During my vacation in Santorini, Greece, I ran into a wall on my Vespa. Afterwards, I had to ride with my sister, I was so traumatized.
- I survived September 11.
- On a trip to Hong Kong, my friends, sister and I were ripped off in the infamous Chungking Mansions, literally the cheapest hotel in Hong Kong. The guy took our money for the room and then literally ran into the stairwell, lost forever in a maze of stairwells Just imagine the cantina scene in Star Wars and Blade Runner rolled into one, that is what Chungking Mansions is like.
- I used to live in a third floor walk up in Greenwich Village that had no closets. I had to use the kitchen cabinets to store my clothes.
- I hate musicals, yet I seem to see a lot of them.
- I don’t like mushy movies or chick flicks and prefer science fiction and action pictures.
- I could care less about football until the end of the season when the playoffs, championship games start happening.
- My friend S and I used to go to the Four Seasons every Wednesday for martinis. Now I am pretty sure one martini would put me to sleep.
- I don’t like rap, never have and never will.
- I can a spot a celebrity from a distance. Once I was able to spot Tobey Maquire in the corner of a restaurant. My friends did not believe me until he walked by our table.
- I have eaten in the same restaurant as Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, sans paparazzi on a holiday weekend no less. And there was nothing fake about their sitting, conversing and having a meal like any other couple.
- I like to go to movies by myself. As I often say, if I waited to see movies with friends, I would never see a movie.

I envy your travels! I always thought I’d teach English abroad someday *sigh* I also don’t give much of damn about football–probably because my dad was such a Dallas Cowboys fan that I was practically an orphan on Sunday afternoons when I was a kid. I’m about the same way about baseball, but I was babysitting my grand-daughter once and fell on a Houston Astros playoff game while flipping channels during naptime. When my son discovered what I was watching, he called to his wife to “go ahead and prepare for Armageddon, Mom’s watching baseball.” Oh yeah, my kids. They are truly embarrassingly accomplished, so much so that I hardly ever get to brag without it sounding like I’m exaggerating…no, really…for someone who likes to brag this is both a blessing and a curse.
I have been a reader and follower for a good while and do enjoy your blog. Someday I’ll win a giveaway 🙂

Most plays put me to sleep, but I love musicals. We’re all different, that’s what makes us interesting.
