The Affinia Shelburne located in Murray Hill is a delightfully modern hotel that provides a nice respite in an extremely convenient neighborhood just blocks from Grand Central Station. As I wandered into the hotel lobby, I really liked the red wall mural facing the front desk which has a very clean but chic look to it. The front desk staff was extremely helpful and courteous to this New Yorker.
As far as my room goes, I loved the West Elm look of the room and certainly was an amazingly large size for a New York hotel. Most New York hotels are tiny but my room was so large as to be able to include a chaise lounge, yes, a chaise lounge. And let me say that the sleeping in the bed was a heavenly delight. Not too hard and not too soft as they say. Trust me if I did not have an early wake up call, I would have just enjoyed sleeping in. I have on comments about the view from the room because it was totally blase.
The Affinia Shelburne offers several amenities including aDream Pillow Menu where guests can choose their pillow before you arrive. I will admit that I was extremely happy with my pre-selected pillows.
And don’t miss out on the Rare Rooftop, where you can start the evening with a fantastic view of the city along with a relaxing cocktail. Finally, during my short, short stay, I had the opportunity to enjoy brunch at Rare restaurant located in the lobby and I will tell you that my Eggs Benedict was just yummy and I think the prices are pretty good for that neighborhood.
Just in case you were wondering, I had the opportunity to stay at the Affinia Shelburne as part of the #DeliveryManMovie press event.
