Greg Heffley, the kid who made “wimpy” cool, is back in DIARY OF A WIMPY KID: DOG DAYS, an all-new family comedy in the hit movie franchise based on the publishing phenomenon by Jeff Kinney. School’s out and Greg is looking forward to enjoying the best summer of all time. But when his dad decides that some father-son bonding is in order, Greg must do everything he can to keep him from ruining his vacation. So he hatches a plan to pretend he has a job at a ritzy country club – but even that fails to keep Greg away from the season’s dog days, including embarrassing mishaps at a public pool and a camping trip that goes horribly wrong.
Review: There is so much to like about this movie, from the relatable families, the need for acceptance, the trauma of middle school friendships, dealing with annoying siblings and just plain funny situations. Author of the popular Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, Jeff Kinney, is more comfortable writing a g-rated world for his characters and I truly liked the books and the movie for that reason. Your kids will like this movie and completely find it relatable. I mean kids just want to play video game all day and parents want their kids to go outside and play. My favorite character is Rowley who may not be the coolest character but he is loyal and cares about his friendship with Greg.
Recommendation: If you like book series, and the previous movies, you will like Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days and if your child has not heard of the books, it is definitely a fun movie to watch. And from my nine year old daughter who is fan of both the books and movies, “The movie is awesome, funny and you should go see it.”
