During the #DisneySocialMedia Moms Conference, we stayed at the Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. The Disney Yacht Club Resort’s architecture resembles Martha’s Vineyard or Nantucket which was architect Robert A.M. Stern intention when he designed the resort.
As you enter the spacious lobby, you can’t miss the globe which was specifically created for the Disney’s Yacht Club Resort and was designed to resemble the styles of globes from the 19th century. Don’t be fooled, if you actually look at in depth, you will notice that it includes fictitious names and places. Because it is called the Yacht Club, you can well imagine that there are lots of boating touches from the dark wood and wicker furniture, to the simulated captain’s wheels and Cast Members are decked out in boating regalia.
Along with well-manicured landscape, probably the best feature of the hotel is the Stormalong Bay and Crescent Lake which encompasses 3 acres, with water slides emerging from the life-size replica of a wrecked ship (my daughter’s favorite), lagoons, a slow river to float along in inner tubes and a sand-bottom pool. If you are in the mood, you can also to rent out a pedal boat or go on a fishing expedition. In addition, the resort borders a Boardwalk which makes for nice evening walks after coming back from the parks.
That all said, the most perfect feature of the Disney Yacht Club Resort is its close proximity to Epcot. It literally is a 10 minute walk to Epcot which makes it perfect for wandering over to watch the fireworks after dinner. And because it’s a short distance from the resort, you can get in a few rides before departing on your last day which is what my daughter and I did.
One feature, I did not use but love that it’s available is the Sandcastle Club, a supervised activity center for children ages 3-12 that affords parents a carefree night on the town (Additional fee required). Click here for Disney Yacht Club Resort’s amenities and services.
