Today is Whitney Houston‘s funeral. RIP Whitney who recorded the soundtrack of our lives from singing “The Star Spangled Banner” from Super Bowl XXV which went on to become a Top 20 hit, “I Will Always Love You” from the Bodyguard (one of my favorite movies) to “I’m Every Woman” and so many more songs.
Sadly, a younger generation will be hearing her music for the first time because of her death. My tween daughter and her friends have been obsessed listening to her music since it was announced that she had died. I think it was hard for me, personally not to listen to all the eulogies of her life (forget the craziness, please) and reheard her songs again which brought up memories in my own life which is probably why she is fascinated by the story and her songs, plus Whitney Houston was an incredibly talented singer whose voice reminds that you don’t need all the nonsense you see with singing stars today, her voice was enough to captivate people.
My daughter has been playing all of Whitney Houston’s hits (thanks to you tube) which is good because the videos are from when she was at her strongest vocally, healthy and vibrant which is the way I want to remember her and certainly, that is how I would like my daughter to learn about her.
Whitney will alway be a star in my mind, RIP.
