It’s January and it’s all about stepping back and reevaluating the past year as I did in 2017 Review of all the major events that happened. Along with chronicling all the amazing things that happened, I need to think about ways I can improve or try to improve my life. No one is perfect and certainly I will do my best to tackle each personal goal but unless you write down your goals, nothing every changes as they say. I have already established my 2018 Blog Goals so it’s on to my 2018 Personal Goals.
2018 Personal Goals
- Start working out first thing in the morning – even if it’s just for 15 minutes of weights or 30 minutes of yoga or a 20 minute brisk walk, I will feel as though I have accomplished something first thing in the morning.
- Eat healthier by using prepared meal services – We tried several prepared meal services last year. I want to try again only because each meal comes with all the ingredients and the portions are perfect so one can not overeat and that is important in 2018.
- Eat healthier in general – I have been off and on tracking what I eat and I have gotten much better at it but I definitely need to be consistent. Also, one way I have really worked on eating healthier is changing my breakfast routines by not having bread products. Not to say that I avoid bread but there are healthier options like yogurt and smoothies and fruit that I have been eating.
- Purge, purge, purge – again it’s time to clean out the closets and every nook and cranny. It’s a never-ending problem to keep my one bedroom apartment organized and clean. Why people, why???
- Self Care by treating myself to a Spa Day at least once a quarter. Enough said.
- Get my Estate Plan in Order – I do have a will but it was written in 2003 before my daughter was born. An Estate Plan is so much more than a will. It’s really time to get my affairs in order.
- Get out of debt while saving – sounds like a contradiction but it’s true. The first step is figuring out much I actually spend so January 1, I have started to track my daily spend. Where does my money go anyway??? It’s a mystery.`And I will be doing the 52 Week Money Challenge, to save $1,378 by the end of the year. Sounds small but it’s so easy to do, learn how simple it is by reading how saving every week will get you to your goal.
- Do Stuff – One of my goals is to visit a museum or art gallery or just check out a new store to window shop (this sounds so simple but I am always in a hurry and never just stop to look) The point is to explore the city of New York City and all its wonderful and interesting boroughs. Yes, it means I want to get out and explore all the boroughs this year.
For instance, I was walking on Broadway and I came across the windows of New York Costumes. What is so extraordinary about the window is Christmas has long since passed!!!
- Read a book or two – it sounds like an easy goal but I just don’t read the way I used to. Hey I read all the Harry Potter books (all 7 of them.)
It took me two years to read Shonda Rhimes, A Year of Yes. Yes, it’s worth it and it will make you evaluate your life, plus it’s funny and lots of fun and behind the scene stories as well. The only reason I finished the book was there was no television on our trip to Barbados last year so it was the only thing to do!! I started two books this year, Crazy Rich Asians which I have to finish before the movie is released this summer (this movie is getting great buzz) and Who Thought This Was a Good Idea?: And Other Questions You Should Have Answers to When You Work in the White House. It’s from Alyssa Mastromonaco worked for Barack Obama for almost a decade, and long before his run for president. From the then-senator’s early days in Congress to his years in the Oval Office, she made Hope and Change happen through blood, sweat, tears, and lots of briefing binders. I am enjoying reading all the the behind the scenes stories of major historic events. There is actually a Queen of England story, it’s great and funny.
- Continue journaling – I started journaling last year with Dot Journaling also known as Bullet Journaling and love it. I just decided to use my dot journal to keep track of everything including tracking my expenses. Curious, learn more about How to Start a Bullet Journal.
Now you say, will I keep up with my personal goals? I am going to try so I have already booked the first day of every month to evaluate my progress. Stay tuned for the results of my personal goals!!
Do you have a personal goal you would like
to accomplish in 2018?
