Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens on Friday, December 18 starring Daisy Ridley (Rey), John Boyega (Finn), Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (Leia) and Adam Driver (Kylo Ren) directed by J.J. Abrams. All I can say is that from the opening Star Wars iconic scrawl and John Williams’ recognizable score to the very end, the movie was a fun, enthusiastic wild ride that every fan and newbie alike will love. Without giving away any spoilers, here are my 6 reasons you will love the movie.
6 Reasons Why I loved Star Wars: The Force Awakens
Daisy Ridley who plays Rey, one of the lead actors is just wonderful. Kathleen Kennedy, the President of Lucasfilms called her “this generation’s Luke Skywalker” and she is right giving her that moniker. I am sure that J.J. Abrams (Director) auditioned hundreds and that he discovered this 23 year old to make her film debut is just an accomplishment. Like Carrie Fisher who played Princess Leia in the original Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, Daisy Ridley joins Fisher as a global star. She brings it all to the screen, awe, strength, resourcefulness, tears and deals with “The Force”. So many girls will look to her when they see the movie and see the possibilities…
It’s Funny
Okay it’s not a comedy but one of the reasons why the Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope is so beloved is Harrison Ford‘s Han Solo quips. And that comes through in the dialogue from several characters including Harrison Ford’s Han Solo again.
Light Sabers, Light Sabers, Light Sabers
The recognizable swoosh of the Light Saber is not lost in this movie and there are many memorable scenes that will be discussed for years to come.
The Action
Enough said! So many great action scenes. The Millennium Falcon does it’s thing and who doesn’t love lots of TIE fighter scenes. Things blow up! Did I mention the light saber scenes? Adult and kids alike will love it.
The Diversity of the Cast
It’s hard not to mention that charismatic threessome of Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Oscar Isaac who are the leads in the movie. Nothing feels forced, just the natural order of the world.
Droids, Droids, Droids
BB-8 adds to the pantheon of R2D2 and C3PO cuteness.
I was lucky enough to see this movie with journalists who I am going to assume are Star Wars fans since they clapped a lot during the movie. That said, I will be seeing it again with my 12 year daughter. She is so looking forward to seeing it.
And even if you have never seen the previous 6 films, it’s okay. J.J. Abrams made the movie for fans and newbies alike.
