Recently, I attended my first Disney Social Media Moms On-the-Road Celebration held at the New Amsterdam Theater which is the home to Disney’s latest Broadway musical Aladdin.
The Disney Social Media Moms On-the-Road Celebration provide is great because it provides bloggers with the latest and greatest happenings across the Disney brands. In addition, it features a vast array of speakers that helps bloggers improve their skills and social media presence.
I appreciate the Disney Team just like the Disney Parks goes above and beyond to make every experience a memorable experience. Because the event was being held at the New Amsterdam Theatre, I thought we would be sitting in the theater. Wrong, we actually sat on the stage. Such a cool way to enjoy the speakers.
So what’s new at Disney:
Paint the Night Parade launched in May as part of its Disneyland Diamond Celebration and offers park goers one million colorful lights to enjoy.
No need to fly to take a Disney Cruise because Disney Cruise Lines New York City Port 2016 will be sailing from New York City to Walt Disney World and Castaway Bay in the Bahamas. Sorry you will have to wait until Fall 2016.
Love Broadway musicals then you will love that Tangled: The Musical is coming this November on Disney Cruise Lines.
Celebrity Meet Up
How can you have a Disney event without meeting one the most iconic celebrities in the world? Mickey Mouse made an appearance and I could not resist having my photo taken. I loved that the photo was available so quickly by using instagram.com and just typing #MyPrintly in the comments section which then printed automatically at the printers at the event. And you too can do this at home by downloading My Printly app.
Guest Speakers
Jenn Fickley-Baker – Social Media Manager at Disney Parks is responsible for the Disney Parks blog and social media. I loved her recommendation for bloggers to think of 10-12 ways to write a story and think like a kid asking “What if?”
Victoria Lim is a multi-tasker, a Multimedia Journalist, Trainer and Consultant. As a blogger, I am always hungry to hear professionals speak about they create content and what tools they use to make visuals more appealing to readers. She showcased two apps she uses: Videolicious and Magisto.
Greg Josken – Digital Marketing and Social Media Manager at Disney Theatrical Group provided insight into how his team thinks outside the Aladdin has implemented to increase social media mentions such as having theater goers take selfies of them with an Aladdin Magic Lamp prop.
Other speakers from the event included the Babble.com editors, Marissa Kraxberger – Vice President of Creative for Ivanka Trump and Barby Siegel – CEO of Zeno Group.
For my first Disney Social Media Moms Celebration On the Road, it was an action packed day filled with lots of pixie dust.
Disclosure: NYC Single Mom was not compensated for attending the event.
