As Jaimie Alexander, Sif in Thor: The Dark World entered the room, she announced that she was not “wearing fur ” and that she had to wear the coat so as not to reveal her dress before she hit the Thor: Dark World Red Carpet.
From that moment, I knew she was a total rock star. I will be honest, except for her playing Sif in the first Thor, I was not aware of her or knew anything about Ms. Alexander. Well after this interview, I can’t say enough about what a confident, self-assured, down to earth, funny AND without a doubt stunning woman she is. Girl crush I have!
8 Reasons Jaimie Alexander Rocks:
- She admitted that she was not used to wearing a catsuit and her gown was “a little uncomfortable.” Note the gown she refers to created a photo and web frenzy the minute she hit the red carpet.
- She was a wrestler in high school. Who admits that? That is so hilarious and such an unfettered response.
3. She worked with a dialect coach to have a British accent for the movie.
4. Love her philosophy, “Work what your momma gave you.” She is not all what you expect an actress to be, stating that “Everybody is different, so no one can actually be you, so you have that above everyone else.”
5. She’s a great sister to her four brothers. After finding out she was cast in Thor, they asked her for Natalie Portman’s number. And being the good sister, she left a post-it note for Natalie with her brother’s number. Not that anything happened but she did her sisterly duty.
6. Her ideal woman is Sigourney Weaver. “She was always my favorite. She seemed to embody a sense of humor, while being stoic and being powerful, and also being feminine. And to me, she is the ideal woman. She’s amazing. She’s incredible. I always looked up to her and the characters she played.”
7. While Jaimie does a lot of her own stunts, there are certain things she is not allowed to do like being lit on fire.
8. Jaimie happily admitted that she looks nothing like her action figure. “I don’t carry a sword around. I gotta say, I wear two corsets in the movie and a padded chest, so I would say everything from the waist up is pretty inaccurate.”
9. Funny, enthusiastic and down to earth, again I can’t begin to describe what a fun interview this was. I love when actors can be so unguarded during interviews and certainly the interview was all that and more. And I have to give her kudos for offering to take a separate photo with me for my daughter who is a big Sif fan.
10. She admitted that as Sif, warrior and compadre to Thor, is a role model for girls and one she takes seriously.
I look forward to seeing where her career takes Jaimie and hope she continues to take roles that young women and girls can look up to and see that women in film can be both strong yet feminine. Currently, she is being considered to play Wonder Woman in the Batman vs. Superman movie – I say give it to her now. She would be amazing.
