During our set visit of Vince Vaughn (“David Wozniak”) and Cobie Smulder’s (“Emma”) soon to be released movie, Delivery Man, I had the opportunity to interview Vince Vaughn. I will admit that I have been a fan of Vince Vaughn since Swingers and was thrilled to be meeting him. He is by far one actor whose off screen persona is pretty much like his on screen persona which I appreciate whole-heartedly.
Many times, interviewees are not that funny but that was not the case with Vince. During our interview, Vince was warm, funny and appreciative of our being out in the rain to interview him.
The questions from the group of bloggers ran the gamut from being a new dad to his interest in doing the movie to filming in New York.
Vince provided insight into his reasons for why the movie appealed to him especially as a new dad. “You know I love the concept, and I think being a new dad, I was really right for it because I think the fun of the movie is, it’s overwhelmingly, for me is, when you were younger, he kind of donates a lot to a sperm bank. As sort of a young guy, like, oh I can make a couple bucks, but they don’t really think of the consequences at that age. And now all these years later it’s like four to five hundred kids want to meet him. They’ve overused his donations, if you will.”
Vince expressed how incredible it was to filming in New York and how the city lends itself because the kids in the movie have different lifestyles and of course live in different neighborhoods which enhanced the movie. Filming in New York led to us being in some great destinations that added to the story.
Vince research for the movie was a blend of looking up stuff on the internet and personal experience with his own baby “tapping”into lot of what he was going through as a new dad with all the wonder and worry.
Finally, Vince addressed the old show business adage about never working with kids telling us how much fun it was to work with the young actors. “They come in like really working hard. These kids, it’s really fun for them.”
Well, although it was a dreary day when we visited the set, interviewing Vince Vaughn made it a brighter day with his cheerfulness and happy go lucky attitude.
