The Cinnamon Challenge – Another Thing Parents Have to Worry About #TheCinnamonChallenge

May 3, 2013 by NYCSingleMom Filed Under: Single Mom Daily Life

Just when you think kids can’t come up with idiotic ways to prove they are cool, along comes The Cinnamon Challenge.  What is the Cinnamon Challenge?  Basically, kids are trying to swallow cinnamon. Yes, the spice that you put on top of your morning Latte or use for baking. All you have to do search Cinnamon Challenge You Tube to get a feel for what kind of nuttiness is going on for teens.

The Cinnamon Challenge, can you die from Cinnamon challenge, you tube cinnamon challenge

Since 2012, kids have been daring each other to swallow cinnamon and of course uploading them on You Tube so you know where that leads. I have seen  a couple of Cinnamon Challenge You Tube videos on the new which show kids attempting to swallow the cinnamon and then spitting it out because the spice is so strong. For you bakers out there, you know you don’t need a lot and you also how strong a smell it emits so imagine trying to swallow it.

Now the news is that there is a rise in calls to Poison Control centers throughout the country and that this latest craze can lead to serious health problems. Duh!

Remember when we just had to worry about illegal drugs, now kids can just go to the kitchen. UGH!!

Have you heard of The Cinnamon Challenge? Or do you know any kids who have tried it?

When I first heard about this I was shocked. I mean, how do kids even think about this stuff? Definitely another thing I’ve added to my list of stuff to watch out for and educate about.

I have teens so have heard of this several times over the past year or so. I have also seen the scary stories about doing it. I have to admit… I did not know the dangers involved. Thanks for sharing!

My little brother told me how his friends had tried this about a year ago. I was like… what? I tell you,, anything can be turned into something dangerous these days.
