Betsy Ross is probably one the most famous people from history and the American Revolution. Her well-known and beloved story of sewing the Stars and Stripes is a part of our history.
We toured the Betsy Ross House which takes only about 30 minutes but is well worth of course because of it’s historical significance but you and your children can see how they truly lived.
As you wander the house you notice how narrow the stairwell is and low the ceilings are. A fun fact we learned is that people during the Colonial era were not necessarily shorter than we are now but could actually have bed made to order.
One of favorite parts of the tour is the seamstress working The Ross Upholstery store telling the girls what their life would be like working from age 11, Monday through Friday, sun up to sundown. as an apprentice seamstress with no pay. That will make the study!
