Blue Man Group is the quintessential New York City experience. It’s hard to believe but Blue Man Group has been around since 1987. Their shows mash together experimental music, comedy and multimedia like no other show and it’s performed by yes, men in Blue paint. What makes this show so unique is that the performers never utter a word throughout the performance, yet their facial expressions, drumming, and interaction with the audience makes for one the most entertaining shows in the world.
It’s been a few years since I have seen the show and it’s as funny, entertaining and engaging as a I remember. There is so much to like about this show but I would have to say my favorite is the “Shake Your Euphemism” song that incorporates numerous alternate words for your bottom like badonkadonk, squash tart, fanny, double slug, wiggle bags, mud flaps, George Foreman Grill, rump rockets, Outback and so many more. You know they had a good time making up words.
I could try to describe the show but frankly, if I did I would not do it justice and if someone tried to explain it to me, I would go huh. All I know is it’s fun time and you will not be disappointed that you went.
Would I recommend? Yes. My contributing writer, Rose S. assessment is that even after many years of performance, she finds the show creative. The concept was original for its time and they have done a nice update, with a nod towards changes in popular culture. Overall, it is a show that she would recommend.
Would I recommend it for the entire family? Yes, your kids will love it. I am not sure how young I would go but definitely a kindergartner would get it, any younger, is based on your child. Their is nothing risque in the show and even the Shake Your Euphemism song is not X-Rated as I am sure you have your own euphemism for “bottom.”
